Dr Manisha Fernando

Dr Manisha Fernando is a medical doctor (Monash University Graduate) and General Practitioner (GP) with over twenty years experience.
She provides dedicated GP mental health counselling sessions for people experiencing mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, burnout or fatigue, health anxiety, navigating chronic illness, workplace challenges, relationship stress and carer stress.
Manisha is a member of the Australian Society of Psychological Medicine (ASPM). She has undertaken additional training in mental health care, psychological strategies and mindfulness. She participates in ongoing training and peer reflection in psychological medicine.
She is (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registered and a member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).
Experience and Training
Manisha’s broader areas of clinical expertise include mental health and mindfulness, child and adolescent health, women’s health, parenting and breast- feeding medicine.
She holds fellowships in General Practice and Rural General Practice, a Masters of Public Health, a Certificate of Clinical Education, a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
She has extensive experience in medical education including for GP trainees, GP supervisors and medical students.
Manisha also works in public health, in health governance and as a medical writer -including her work as GP-Journalist for RACGP’s ‘newsGP’
She is a passionate advocate for health equity, rural and remote health issues and primary health care.
